Session 3: Small Orbit Visioning / May 7 2020
A RADICAL VIRTUAL LABORATORY FOR ARTISTS How can we use Art and Media to uplift movements working to create futures where All are equitably cared for and free to thrive? Do you want to participate in a workshop for artists who want to hone their political-art-making skills and deepen their political knowledge in service of those futures? Do you already make propaganda, agit-prop, political art and media? Do you want to share your knowledge, collaborate with other artists, and reach new audiences?
This three-session workshop seeks to create space to explore, answer, and unravel these questions. Prior to the workshop, participants will receive a digital Political Education Packet highlighting central issues and a brief global history of propaganda, agit-prop, and political art to ensure a shared vocabulary and common starting ground. In session, we will focus on these issues and our relationship to them as artists through hands-on exercises, deep-dive knowledge shares, and embodied, creative prompts. Then, in response to the needs expressed by local, grass-roots organizations, we will create new Art and Media to offer the world. We strive to create and live in a way that is rooted in fighting towards equitable access to resources & healing for all people.
